Season opener at Swanville! (VIDEO)
When we arrived in Swanville tonight, the B-B-E Jaguars fastpitch team was holding a 7-4 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. We were on eggshells at that point, but the Jaguars played great defense the rest of the way. Final: B-B-E 10, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 5. The Jaguars scored 3 runs in the top of the sixth inning with a three-RBI triple by Kacey Fischer.
Here's action from the bottom of the sixth inning:
Game two is going to start at about 6 p.m. The Jaguars will face the host Swanville Bulldogs. In their other game, Swanville defeated Ogilvie 7-0 in the other field at Swanville's softball complex.
Game two update...the Jaguars started out strong and held an initial 2-0 lead, but the host Bulldogs stormed back and ultimately scored seven unanswered points across the third, fifth and sixth innings. Final: Swanville 7, B-B-E 2. More to follow. We headed to Lucky's Saloon in downtown Swanville for supper!
I haven't heard results yet out of Minnewaska from the sub-section speech meet.
Next for the fastpitch team: the Jaguars (1-1) host MACCRAY in a non-conference sub-section game on Tuesday in Brooten at 4:30 p.m.
