Jaguars Boys Basketball Picks Up Huge Boost in Section Standings, 65-60 Win over Osakis on the Homecourt.... Jaguars Wrestling in Action at Sections

Facing improbable odds at halftime, down 36-21, the Jaguars boys basketball team picked up their 11th win of the season in dramatic fashion, downing the Osakis Silverstreaks in the final minutes of the game with the fastbreak leading the way. Coming into the game, Osakis was the 2nd-ranked team in Sub-Section 6AA-West.

With the win, the Jaguars inch back over .500 to 11-10, going into the final five games of the season. They host Hancock (5-14) next Monday night for Seniors' Night.

Boys basketball scores from tonight:
Melrose 54, Albany 44
Maple Lake 74, Litchfield 63
New London-Spicer 95, St. Cloud Cathedral 58
Sauk Centre 38, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 35
Upsala 53, Holdingford 47

The Jaguars wrestling team is in the midst of Day 1 of Individual Sections tonight at Kimball. Austin Kampsen and Cole Tensen are the remaining undefeated Jaguars, and both advanced to the semi-finals in their respective weight classes. I just got off the phone with Paul Rooney & Cheryl Kampsen, who both gave me a nice update. A large number of Jaguars are moving in the wrestlebacks tonight and hopefully tomorrow as well. With the Section 5A having 13 teams, the action tonight will go on tonight towards midnight (no kidding!)...and then pick up at 12:30pm tomorrow.

In the final game of their regular season, the Jaguars girls basketball team fell to Central Minnesota Conference powerhouse Eden Valley-Watkins in an 80-41 loss. The Eagles wrap up a perfect CMC season, their third such in the past four seasons. The Jaguars cap the best regular season in B-B-E history with a final 17-9 record, with a 9-5 CMC mark which puts them in third place. It is the best CMC finish ever for the Jaguars since joining the league in 1999.

Girls basketball scores from tonight:
Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 60, Rockford 49 (Rockford finishes 7-19, HL-W-W finishes 21-5)
Holdingford 72, Kimball Area 47
Maple Lake 43, Pierz 39

The Jaguars will host Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (15-9) next Tuesday night in a 7:00 game for the Sub-Section 6AA-East quarterfinals. The Jaguars are seeded #4 for the third straight season for playoffs, all in Class AA. They played in Class A from 2002 to 2005.
