Football Postseason action... K-M-S Wins Over Minneota... NL-S Blanks Albany 30-0

Before diving into football notes, I want to mention that I've started my sub-section championship photo album on the Sauk Herald online photo gallery.

What an amazing run for the NL-S Wildcats, as their football team has now won the Section 6AAA championship for that school's first-ever trip to the state tournament.

The K-M-S Fighting Saints make their second straight trip to the big dance. I don't have any other details on the K-M-S/Minneota game.

Section 6AA championship: Breckenridge 45, Pierz 21.

Class 9-Man - Section 3 Football = Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 8, Westbrook-Walnut Grove 7.

Class A - Section 4 Football = Royalton 36, St. Bernard's 28.

Class AA - Section 3 Football = Luverne 35, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 14.

The Section 5A championship match will be played at the Bertha-Hewitt high school at 7:00 on Saturday night, November 1st. The town of Bertha is around 65 to 75 miles from the B-B-E High School, and there are a variety of ways to get there. The easiest route, is straight north on U.S. Highway 71.

The Nevis Tigers will bring a powerful game to the section championship battle against our Jaguars volleyball team. In the sub-section semi-final match, this past Tuesday night, the Tigers had two players stand out in their 3-0 win over Sebeka. Maggie Lindow, a junior middle hitter, piled up 25 kills in 34 attacks!...with eighth grader Riley Hansen pounding out 13 kills, also from the middle hitting position. Nevis runs a 5-1 offense, with Cassie Edwards running the show as a senior setter.

The Nevis Tigers won 25-19, 25-21, 25-22 against Sebeka, who finished their season 22-6.

The Tigers won the Northwoods League championship, finishing 7-0 in the loop.
