Ouch, Hard to Sugar-Coat This One, Jaguars Football Loses 55-6 at Minneota in Section 5A semi-finals, Wrap Up 5-5 Season

The Jaguars take the field for the game-opening kickoff at Minneota. In the above photo, Shane Weller hauls in a pass as the Minneota defenders try to no avail to wrestle the pigskin from his hands.
The Jaguars football team put a final stamp on a five-win season with a 55-6 loss to #1-seeded Minneota today. Their 5-5 final record ties the 1993 team for the third-best football season in B-B-E history.
They made many memories this year, for sure, but today...well, they'll want to quickly forget about today. In the end, the Jaguars have to understand how costly the losses at West Central Area and Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted were. If they would have won in both of those games (which was more than do-able, and both of those first 2 teams that we played were not teams that were any more talented than the Jaguars)... If they'd have started the season 2-0, and ultimately 4-0... a final record of 6-2 going into playoffs would have had them rated as a NUMBER ONE SEED! The Jaguars would actually have been hosting K-M-S today in the semi-finals, and Dawson-Boyd would've traveled to a #2-seed Minneota. Imagine that. K-M-S pulled out a come-from-behind victory at Dawson-Boyd in the other 5A semi-final. After taking a 17-7 lead, K-M-S fell behind 21-17 after the Blackjacks scored two unanswered touchdowns. The Fighting Saints then took a 24-21 lead in the 4th quarter before earning an interception on a potential game-winning drive by Dawson-Boyd in the final 90 seconds. K-M-S will take an 8-2 record into the Section 5A finals to face top-seeded Minneota (9-1) at 5:00 at the Southwest State University campus on October 31. My only hope is that we can keep the momentum of winning football games going. The class of 2009 will be the first-ever group of players who went through the Jaguars varsity football program without a winless season. That's special in my opinion. The Jaguars' final mark of 5-5 is the third-best record of football in B-B-E history. It ties the 1993 team's win/loss accomplishments. And once again I'll state that they should be proud of their 4-3 mark in the Central Minnesota Conference, earning a 3rd-place tie in the league.
