Glenwood's Smooth Magic 107 will be carrying the Jaguars girls basketball game at Kimball. The call numbers are 107.1 on your FM dial, and you can also "tune in" online by clicking here at http://smoothmagic107.com. At that website PC computers can pull up Windows Media Player and listen to the Jaguars via the internet. If you have trouble pulling it up, I've learned you can paste the following link - http://209.237.100.93:1071/broadwave.asx?src=1&kbps=24 - into the "open URL" option of Windows Media Player.
Here's my update on the Jaguars basketball teams:
• Jaguars girls basketball:
Last season, the Jaguars finished 9-5 in the CMC. That was their highest win total in conference play since 1994-1995. It is also their best-ever record in the CMC, since joining that league in 1999.
The school record for girls basketball wins in a conference is 10, set in 1990-1991 and then repeated again in 1994-1995 in the old West Central South Conference.
So in tonight's game at Kimball, the Jaguars have a chance at tying the school record in girls basketball for conference wins.
The Jaguars girls basketball team is averaging just under 58 points per game on offense. The Cubs, meanwhile, are sitting at a 43 points per game average.
Back on January 8, the Jaguars hosted Kimball and came away with a 66-42 win during their first meeting of this season.
(Sidebar note: The Jaguars girls danceline team will perform at halftime of the girls basketball game next Monday, when the Jaguars host Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted.)
• The Jaguars boys basketball team raised their overall record to 18-3 this week Tuesday, when they defeated the Maple Lake Irish 79-63 in home CMC action. Going into tonight's action they are 9-1 in the CMC, a 1/2 game ahead of Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted.
Their 18 wins ties the most wins since 2004-2005, when they were 18-8 going into playoffs. The school record for regular season wins in boys basketball at B-B-E is 21, which was set in 2001-2002.
