Wednesday, March 11 - B-B-E schools is 2 hours late
The area picked up 5 to 10 inches of snow on Tuesday. The weather cranked it up and ushered in bitter cold. The overnight low was between 5 and 10 below zero around west central Minnesota.
To illustrate how bad the weather in western Minnesota was...The publisher of the Wheaton Gazette told the printer in Lowry (near Glenwood) that he did not want the driver who carries the printed newspaper from Lowry to Wheaton to drive out there on Tuesday...he said, wait until Wednesday. So instead of normally getting the paper on Wednesday, subscribers to the Gazette will get it tomorrow on Thursday. It's the first time in the 25 years that the manager at Quinco (the printer in Lowry) was told by a newspaper publisher not to send a driver with the paper.
Check this out, it was released on Wednesday morning:
North lane of I-29 closed north of Watertown, S.D.
PIERRE, S.D. (AP) — The northbound lane of Interstate 29 from Watertown to the North Dakota border remained closed this morning until further notice from the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
Snow gates were closed Tuesday afternoon and motorists were not allowed through in order to keep them from being stranded north of Watertown, where there's limited lodging.
In North Dakota, both lanes of I-29 were closed to Canada.
