A win by the Jaguars would give them sole possession of the 2009-2010 Central Minnesota Conference championship.
The Jaguars boys basketball team has tied the record for most wins in the regular season, as they sit at 22-3 after the blowout win over last-place Holdingford on Tuesday night. Their 12-1 record in the Central Minnesota Conference also ranks as the best-ever through 13 games on the league schedule.
A win tonight at Eden Valley would break the record for most wins in a conference (set in 2002 at 12-2 and then tied last season) while also setting a new regular season win record.
All that talk of this or that school record means little, however, to this team's aspiration of taking sole possession of the conference and setting their sights on a deep playoff run.
They earned the #1 seed in Sub-Section 6A-South on Wednesday morning, and will host a quarterfinal round game next Thursday night at 7pm. The opponent will be either #8-seeded Henning or #9 Underwood.
The Jaguars, who have a 4-0 record against section opponents during the regular season, average 74.3 points per game.
Top competition in the sub-section will come from 18-2 Hillcrest Lutheran Academy and 18-3 Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley.
In the north half, undefeated Ada-Borup (24-0), Park Christian of Moorhead, Barnesville, and Norman County East are all potential Section finalists.
