A-C-GC buries St. Clair in state football opener

The A-C-GC Falcons are Metrodome-bound after a 38-20 annihilation of St. Clair in tonight's Class A state quarterfinal round game in Marshall.

In another Class A quarterfinal game, defending state champion Dawson-Boyd beat Browerville 35-20 in Morris. The Blackjacks (11-1) are not in the same bracket as the Falcons.

In Class AA, BOLD beat Holdingford 23-20 in two overtimes last night in St. Cloud.

On Saturday, former Brooten Buccaneers football stand out Dan Essler leads his New London-Spicer Wildcats football team into the Class AAA state quarterfinals at SCSU. Coach Essler has emerged as one of the top football coaches in central Minnesota in recent years, taking a program that really didn't do much in the history of NL-S and turning it into a mid-size football power.
