Eyes on the prize
The 2012 state champion trophy, shown sitting in the boys' basketball trophy case outside their gymnasium at the B-B-E elementary school this morning. Oh, the sweet memories!!!! |
I've thought long and hard about how it would feel if the Jaguars lose tonight's game. I go from being sanguine about it to being greedy. For heaven's sake, I woke up at 1am, 3am and 5:30am last night just from the nerves attributed to this game!
Heck yes, I want the winning streak to continue! At the same time, the Jaguars need to be battle-tested for the Section 6A playoffs...and if they're able to make it past Section 6A, then they have to be ready for the Class A state tournament.
I probably will get hate mail because of this opinion, but I would rate the Jaguars as slight underdogs going into the game. Face it, the game is on Melrose's court on a gymnasium that our crew hasn't played on in nearly 14 months. I do have to put a great deal of weight on B-B-E fans, as they need to absolutely overflow the visitors' side of the court!!!!
Tonight is certainly a night that prepares them for March Madness!
Speaking of which: carve out these dates on your calendar! Boys basketball section playoffs: Sub-section quarterfinal is Thursday March 7; sub-section semifinal is Saturday March 9; sub-section final is Tuesday March 12; Section 6A final is Friday March 15 in Morris.
**Added at 14:47 this afternoon...you'll want to take a look at this, which is coverage of last summer's B-B-E's home tournament where they squared off with Melrose Area in the championship game. Click to see video and other information...material you will only find right here...good stuff!

Sidebar: I can't miss mentioning that the Jaguars wrestling team will compete in perhaps the most important night of action on their winter schedule with a triangular at Kimball Area that also includes Osakis. All three teams are in Section 5A. Also tonight, the B-B-E Dazzlers dance team will compete at the A-C-GC Invitational in Grove City.
Here's the album of the B-B-E Dazzlers performing at halftime on Friday night at the Holdingford game:
