In his second straight appearance in a state semifinal match, junior Canon Swanson (45-0) won a 3-0 decision over senior Jorge Hernandez (31-5) of LeSeur-Henderson. Swanson competes tonight in the 120-pound championship!! His opponent will be junior Brett Willaby (34-3) of Windom/Mountain Lake. So far, Willaby has two pins and a 6-0 decision (semifinals) under his belt at state.

No result reported yet for Tyler Bents.

*Below, video from the Section 5A tournament last weekend at Minnewaska...it features sophomore Mark Jenniges. He will be one of numerous Jaguars gunning for state next season!

Stay tuned!

**Update: in his state semifinal match, Tyler Bents lost a heartbreaker by a 3-0 decision to Blake Legred of United South Central. The score was tied 0-0 going into the third period. Legred earned an escape with 1:49 left, and then with 13 seconds remaining he got a takedown to put salt on the lead. Bents was in the process of earning a takedown after spinning Legred on the mat, but Legred slid out of it and got on top for the victory.

This makes it one for the B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team for student-athletes who will be going for gold tonight. Regardless, there is so much to be proud of with our wrestling program! And four of the five guys at state are not done yet!
