Tuesday night action (VIDEOS)
Tuesday night was exciting from start to finish. I had a front row seat to hard-fought battles for both our wrestling and boys' basketball teams.
*Here's a video from the final 5 minutes at Eden Valley last night:
Eden Valley-Watkins entered the game last night as winners of eight in a row. They are challenging for a top-four seed in Section 3AA with Paynesville Area. That is going to be an interesting tournament to watch to the south while our boys' basketball team heads north to the Section 6A tournament in March.
**Here's a video from the 145 pound match last night as Brett DeRoo won a major decision:
*Here's Ryan Jensen starting his 132-pound match on Tuesday as his team was trailing 15-3 against the Wolves.
Jensen won his match at 132, and Wyatt Engen then won at 138 as the Jaguars started to climb out of that 15-3 deficit on the scoreboard. They ultimately won 41-23 for a huge win over the No. 5-ranked team in the state.
I have completed an area scoreboard on last night's blog post.
Tomorrow I'll learn more about the playoff seeding for the wrestling team. I don't expect that to be determined until Friday.
On deck tomorrow night (Thursday): the girls' basketball team hosts Maple Lake in a Central Minnesota Conference game. The Irish just lost last night to Blake (a fellow Section 5AA team) by a 51-46 score to fall to 4-15 overall; they are 0-10 in the CMC.
