Job openings at Lakeside Foods in Brooten

And these are good, middle-class jobs with a great work environment. The field supervisor gets a fair amount of day-time traveling to boot!

##jobsjobsjobs

A few days ago I reported that our B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team is 7-5 overall this century against New London-Spicer. I completely forgot about NL-S's dominating 85-60 win over the Jaguars in the 2009 Sub-Section 6AA-East championship game. So the win on Monday over NL-S lifted them to 7-6 overall against NL-S since the 2000-2001 season.

Winter Wonderland

Last night and today, the Bonanza Valley area has been transformed into a "Winter Wonderland" after we lost basically all our snow from the November 30 storm. I'd say we've received anywhere from four to six inches of snow around Brooten.

I'm catching my breath now and gearing up for a 14-page issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice that will come out next week for Christmas. It will consume most of my time.

In the sports world, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team has home games on Thursday and Friday this week. You can see the full winter schedules for all four varsity teams at B-B-E in the December 10 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice.

Basketball teams win

In their second Central Minnesota Conference game of the season, the B-B-E Jaguars boys' basketball team won 51 to 37 at Kimball tonight. Each team had 17 turnovers, but the Jaguars had a nice edge in rebounds. B-B-E had a 19-11 lead and then a chance at the final shot before halftime, and Tanner Heinsius canned a three-pointer at the buzzer from about four feet beyond the arc. The Cubs chipped away at the double-digit deficit early in the second half, making it a two-possession game, but the Jaguars pulled away down the stretch to improve to 4-1 overall.

The boys' basketball team hosts Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted in the home opener this Friday night. The Lakers are 1-3 overall and are on a three-game losing streak after beating Litchfield 51-50 in their season opener.

Meanwhile, at home tonight the B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team beat Upsala 71-37 to improve to 4-0. They head to Pierz on Thursday.

Girls' basketball throttles Titans

The B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team hammered the Norman County East/Ulen-Hitterdal Titans in the championship game of the Benson tournament. With under 10 minutes to go, the Jaguars led 57-35.

Final: 75 to 49.

Now 3-0 for the first time since 2013 and just the second time since 2004, the Jaguars host Upsala on Tuesday night (Dec. 8) for a contest against the sub-section rival Cardinals (0-1). It's their second home game of the season.

More great news...at Maple Grove today, the B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team placed third out of 12 teams with just eight guys competing. Ben Thompson was the lone champion for the Jaguars.
These eight Jaguars competed at Maple Grove on Saturday.

The Jaguar wrestlers now have a break in competition until Tuesday, December 15 when they host Ortonville and Holdingford in a triangular.
