Wins on the home diamonds

The B-B-E Jaguars fastpitch team picked up their first win of the season by a 6-2 score over visiting Swanville on Friday. They're now 1-10 overall heading into a home Central Minnesota Conferendce doubleheader against Kimball Area (6-2, 4-1 CMC) on Monday that begins at 4 p.m.

I missed on reporting these scores on Thursday night. The Jaguars fastpitch team traveled to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted for a CMC doubleheader. HL-W-W swept the series with 11-3 and 15-4 (5 innings) wins.

Here's video from the end of the fastpitch game on Friday:

At Elrosa, the B-B-E Jaguars baseball team won the first game of a CMC doubleheader by a 4-0 score over Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted. In game two, the Jaguars led 6-0 through three-and-a-half innings before the Lakers scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth. It ended up being the only inning of the whole night that HL-W-W put points on the scoreboard at Saints Field, as B-B-E won the nightcap by an 8-3 score to improve to 6-1 overall this season. B-B-E's defense allowed just seven hits across both games.

The Jaguars are 5-1 in the CMC and have an important rematch with Paynesville Area next Monday on the road. Since handing the Jaguars their only loss of the season by a 7-2 score, the Bulldogs have gone 3-4 and stand at 3-3 (fourth) in the CMC. B-B-E is in third place in the CMC behind Maple Lake and Pierz, who are both still unbeaten in the CMC at 6-0 and 5-0, respectively.

Here's video from Elrosa in game one of the doubleheader:

Enrollment

I just read in the Kerkhoven Banner that K-12 enrollment stands at 685, according to an article published in the April 20 issue. That number is very close to the last enrollment numbers I saw for MACCRAY and also West Central Area.

Meanwhile, B-B-E's enrollment is just over 600. The latest figures I saw showed that the K-12 enrollment is just 605.

Morris track and field meet

I have not had time to fully comb through the results from this Tuesday's (April 4) track and field meet in Morris. However, I did take a glance late Tuesday night and saw that junior Kyle Felling won the 100, 200 and 400 open races and also took third place in the long jump.

I also saw that the girls' 4x100 relay team took second place out of 10 squads.

Very cool!!!

Today the B-B-E Jaguars track and field teams are competing at the Minnewaska meet. I will be unable to attend due to health reasons. I am hoping to get up to speed next Tuesday for a home baseball game.

Remembering Coach Joe Traen

This was stated by a Watertown-Mayer community member, and it is well worth sharing. Let there be no doubt how great of a man Coach Joe Traen was!

"As the head wrestling coach, he taught young men how to be great men first, how to value family time, do well in school and then be an athlete....all in that order of importance."
