Musical and State Football! GAME DAY in Minneapolis! (VIDEO)

This blog post will have to serve double duty to promote B-B-E's fall musical and also provide state tournament updates from Minneapolis. It will be further updated later this morning.

**Here's a web article to share online...featuring a video clip and more from last night's musical opening night...link: https://tinyurl.com/3df7rkbk. WE ARE SO PROUD OF OUR musical students!!!!!! They were incredible last night.

We won't know until that second half of the first game, which features Mahnomen/Waubun vs. Springfield in the first Class 1A semifinal.

Here's a short glimpse from Act I from opening night last night...Wednesday Addams and Pugsley!

The Realtors brought the house down!!

At Classic Co. Dinner Theater tonight in front of a packed house...

That was one of the finest choral performances I've ever seen!

Most people in the B-B-E area who were familiar with this group of singers in the early 1990s remember their use of the name "The Realtors" along with their unique dress code that included old Brooten High School polyester jackets. Along the way, they've used a number of other names, but "The Realtors" is the one that stuck as it adheres to the spirit of their original outfits.

Fun facts: the youngest member of the group, Matt Jensen, graduated from B-B-E in 1991. He was 16 years old when the group was formed. After marrying his high school sweetheart, Lisa Westaby ('91), they now have three children, and their son, Bailey, is 16 years old. The other three members of the group are 1990 graduates of B-B-E. (The first graduating class of the paired school district.)

It was quite a weekend in Brooten, capped off by their terrific performance at Classic Company. I have a bittersweet feeling for two reasons: (1) "BVD" is over until 2014, and (2) I am not sure when "The Realtors" will perform on stage again...we'll see!

Two shows this weekend at Classic Co. Dinner Theater

Don't miss out!

And an update on the track meet yesterday...both of the Jaguars boys' and girls' track teams defeated a number of area schools in the 14-team meet in NL-S. It's really terrific to see that happen.

The girls' team beat Sauk Centre, Melrose Area, Minnewaska Area and MACCRAY/RCW, while the boys' team beat Minnewaska Area, A-C-GC, Paynesville Area, Melrose Area and MACCRAY/RCW.

Also worth noting: the boys' 4x800 relay team of Tyler Tensen, David Rodgers, Jared Sorenson and Patrick Rooney won that event (9:25.13).

Just had lunch at Classic Company Dinner Theater

That was time well spent while eating lunch today with family at Brooten's new Classic Company Dinner Theater. They were playing an old-time classic movie on the big screen when we got there, and then before we got our food they put on a neat (made in 1970) classic movie featuring the story of Santa Claus.

They're taking reservations now for their dinner and a movie show on Saturday, December 29. A story on that show was featured in the December 20 issue of the Sauk Centre Herald.

Give them a call and book some seats! 320-346-2323. Also, be sure to check them out on Facebook!
