Jake's Day is today (VIDEOS)

Reason No. 1,875 why the land of Rocks and Cows is the best place to live and raise a family! This reason I'm talking about is Jake's Day, an annual youth shooting/gun safety/conservation event sponsored by the Bonanza Valley Royal Strutters organization. This event runs until noon/12:30 at the Belgrade Sportsmen's shooting range.

The Stearns County Fair continues today in Sauk Centre and concludes tomorrow (Sunday) at 6 p.m. The full schedule of events is in this week's Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper on page 7.

Jake's Day is coming! (VIDEO)

It's that time of the year when we are gearing up for both the Stearns County Fair in Sauk Centre and also the Bonanza Valley Royal Strutters Jake's Day in rural Belgrade. Both events were advertised in this week's July 21 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. Jake's Day in rural Belgrade is on Saturday, July 30 at the Belgrade Sportsmen's Club shooting range; registration opens at 9 a.m.

Assisting in this booth is Boyd Fischer, who was a senior on the 1989-1990 West Central Conference South champion B-B-E Jaguars wrestling team. He is the father of Blaine Fischer (Class of 2022) and Brooklyn Fischer (Class of 2024).

Bonanza Valley Royal Strutters fall banquet

It's fall banquet time! Two of our premier outdoor advocacy groups will be holding fall banquets in the coming weeks. On deck right now is the Bonanza Valley Royal Strutters fall Gun Blast, which is coming next Saturday, October 30 in Padua.  You can read more about that at the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper: https://bit.ly/3vwkwNa.

Jakes Day is coming! (Mark your calendars!)

Mark your calendars! The annual Jakes Day youth sporting event is Saturday, July 31 at the Belgrade Sportsmen’s Club. For all area children ages 3 to 17, featuring supervised use of small firearms (shot gun and hand guns) plus bow and arrows. The event is free! Just bring yourself and be ready to have a good time in an environment where safety comes first. Registration begins at 9 a.m. with shooting to start by 10 a.m. Lunch at noon followed by prizes for all participants. Sponsored by the National Wildlife Turkey Federation and the Bonanza Valley Royal Strutters.

In other news...today is GAME DAY for the B-B-E Jaguars football team. The JV and varsity teams both play in Alexandria this afternoon. I'll find the streaming link and post when I get a chance. Kickoff for the JV game is noon, and the varsity game will follow at 2 p.m.

Membership banquet coming on Oct. 22

The Bonanza Valley Royal Strutters, a chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, will have their 12th annual membership banquet on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at the Padua Pub. The event begins with Gobbling H our at 5:30 p.m., and the dinner is served at 7 p.m. (Dave's famous chicken and ribs) The raffle drawing is at 9 p.m. featuring 15 guns that will be given away. A Jake's Dinner for those 17 and under is $12.50. A single membership and dinner is $30, while a couples membership and dinner is $45. A sponsorship membership and two dinners will be $275.
