Good Friday was busy (VIDEO)

Smilin' D Arena in Colfax Township hosted a ranch rodeo event tonight. A short video clip from the event was posted to the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper website, which you can find by clicking here: https://shorturl.at/Tglhi.

As luck would have it, the timing worked out to cover both that event at the arena as well as part of Good Friday worship at Crow River Lutheran Church. "As the crow flies" the two locations are just a couple miles apart.

Here's a short video recorded after the sorting competition was completed:

More to come. Additional video is uploading.

And for some actual church! Good Friday worship services were held at numerous area churches tonight. At the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper website is a video from worship at Crow River Lutheran tonight. Click on the following link to see that: https://shorturl.at/QreXI.

Community support this fall! Church auction is tonight (VIDEO)

The community support for our events across the Bonanza Valley area has been incredible this entire fall. We saw that on full display on Tuesday night this week for Dig Pink night at the volleyball match against Paynesville. You can read more about that in this week's Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper.

*Here's a video from Saturday night's church auction at Crow River Lutheran church:

Light coverage of the event in the form of just three photos were published from the Crow River Lutheran church auction in this week's Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. You can watch another video from that night at the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper website by clicking here: https://tinyurl.com/36n9c69u. Other coverage is online with a video from the Elrosa Fire Department steak fry.

Big Grove Lutheran church's WELCA invites everyone to their fall dinner and auction fundraiser TONIGHT! The fun begins with dinner starting at 5 p.m., and the live auction follows at 7 p.m. On the menu: roast beef sandwiches (Padua Pub beef), calico beans, Rommegrot, macaroni salad, bars and beverages. The auction includes beautiful quilts, crafts, baked goods and many other must-have items! This is a Thrivent-sponsored event and has been advertised in the October 12 and October 19 issues of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper.

It's incredibly important for the community to support these events. Advertising from our church auctions helps pay for the coverage you see in the newspaper each week!

Today, Friday, we have hit a high of 73 degrees in Brooten!!! It is likely, with great odds, that this will be the warmest we will be until next spring. I just can't see it getting past 70 degrees between now and next April...we'll see. For now, we know that winter is coming.

Website updated...and another church dinner!

We've finally gotten around to another round of updates at the Bonanza Valley Voice website. That's running "about a week" behind schedule.

https://www.bonanzavalleyvoice.com.

You can see video from Crow River Lutheran church, the B-B-E elementary school fire safety week and learn about an upcoming event at Central Square and Civic Center in Glenwood. And a host of other items to check out, including the Voice online photo gallery and the B-B-E area community calendar.

One item on the calendar, and one that was advertised with a print ad on page 4 this week, is today's pancake and sausage supper at St. Francis de Sales Catholic church in Belgrade. Head over with family and/or neighbors! Just $10 for adults - all you can eat!!

Off the top of my head, this is the second-to-last fall church event on the Bonanza Valley Voice schedule. The final one is one week from today at Grace Lutheran church in Belgrade. They will hold a soup/sandwich supper.

Time to head to church!

*Added Sunday night...here's video from the playoff opener on Friday:

Remember that the next round of volleyball playoffs has our B-B-E Jaguars traveling to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle high school for the semifinals in Sub-Section 5A-South! They faced Osakis with first serve at 6 p.m. Please spread the word!

Tuesday's playoff match will not be aired on the radio.

(Video) Lent worship sermon

Here's Pastor Dalen's sermon given during the Lenten worship on Wednesday, March 14 at Crow River Lutheran church:

Be sure to take in the Brooten Ambulance crew's pancake and sausage breakfast today (Sunday) at the Brooten American Legion hall. They will serve until 1 o'clock.

Section championship boys' basketball scores on March 16:
St. Cloud Cathedral 55, Eden Valley-Watkins 54
Mahnomen/Waubun 71, Hancock 64 (the Owls led by five points at 59-54 with around six minutes left and then went stone cold, scoring just five points the rest of the way.
Hinckley-Finlayson 72, Cromwell-Wright 40
Mayer Lutheran 78, Springfield 75

In the Section 6AA title game at Halenbeck Hall, St. Cloud Cathedral's Nick Schaefer hit an NBA three-pointer at the buzzer to lift his Crusaders team to the state tournament. It was a stunning ending to a game that EV-W appeared to have in hand. You can watch the ending and the epic shot at this website link: https://www.hudl.com/video/3/6863522/5aac8c71bed6d010b81be244.

Also, yesterday at the state tournament, Sauk Centre's girls' basketball team won the Class 2A state title after they beat defending state champion Roseau 63-52. With just over 10 minutes to go, the Mainstreeters (33-0) had a 49-28 lead. Things got real dicey in the final minutes, with the Rams coming back to within three points (55-52) with about two minutes left. Congratulations to Coach Scott Bergman and his program! They were 0-3 in state title games before yesterday.
