A great start to the season for the B-B-E Dazzlers Danceline team at today's Alexandria Invitational

The final shot of the Jazz Funk squad's performance during the Class A competition in Alexandria today.

The B-B-E "Dazzlers" Danceline team competed in both the High Kick and Jazz Funk categories in the Class A division at the 15th annual Alexandria Danceline Invitational today. Both performances were outstanding, especially for their first competition of the season.

Jaguars danceline to open the season today at Alexandria Invitational - first competition is at 12:15pm - Boys basketball travels to Rockford tonight

The danceline meet began at 10:30am today at Jefferson High School in Alexandria.

The Jaguars boys basketball team will play its CMC game at Rockford tonight, Saturday. It was scheduled for last night but school was let out early, forcing all evening activities to be postponed.

Central Minnesota Conference boys basketball results on Jan. 7:
Pierz 71, Maple Lake 42 (Pierz outclassed the Irish in every phase of the game in Maple Lake - my thoughts: watch out for the Pioneers)
Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted 65, Eden Valley-Watkins 42
Kimball Area 58, Holdingford 50

In Maple Lake, Pierz led 38-28 at halftime and limited the Irish to four second half field goals. The Pioneers stretched their lead to 67-37 in the game's final minutes. Read more from the game later.

Jaguars danceline opens their season this coming Saturday in Alexandria

The B-B-E danceline team, in its fifth year as a varsity program for the Jaguars, will compete at the 15th annual Alexandria Danceline Invitational this Saturday, January 8, beginning at 10:30am at Jefferson High School.

Coming this week Tuesday night, a big boys basketball showdown between last year's first and second place teams in the Central Minnesota Conference, B-B-E and Maple Lake. The Irish travel west to face the Jaguars boys basketball team on the local court.

Maple Lake is 6-2 overall. They feature one of the CMC's top players, Irish senior forward Mitch Wurm, who was the conference MVP last season.

The Jaguars girls basketball team will host Melrose Area on Tuesday night in a non-conference game. The Dutchmen girls basketball team is 4-4 overall and 2-3 (5th alone) in the West Central North Conference.

The annual Jaguar wrestling invitational is this Friday night (Jan. 7) at the high school gymnasium. Other teams included with the host Jaguars are Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale, Becker, Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted, Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, MACCRAY/RCW, and Ottertail Central. The tournament begins at 3:30pm.
