The B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team will open the shortened 2020 season on Thursday, October 8 with a road match at Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City. The C- and JV-squad matches start at 5:45 p.m., with the varsity match to follow. It will also be the conference opener for B-B-E.
I am unaware if fans are able to attend, but I am doubting it. **Update on Friday: fans will not be permitted at volleyball matches.
This year, A-C-GC is both a Section 5A opponent and also a new member of the Central Minnesota Conference. Once upon a time, A-C-GC was in the 212 Conference. Then in the mid-2000s, that conference disbanded, and A-C-GC joined the West Central South Conference.
In recent years, they were members of the West Central Conference. They recently took the opening created when Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted left the CMC.
In 2012, the Jaguars started volleyball season with a non-conference match with A-C-GC. The Jaguars hosted the Falcons on August 28 and won 3-0. In the late 2000s and 2010, the Jaguars made a tradition of starting the volleyball season with powerhouse Sauk Centre. Then in 2011, they had Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta for the season opener. After hosting A-C-GC to begin the 2012 season, they began a two-year stretch of facing MA/CA for the opener.
Also, the home opener for the B-B-E Jaguars is on Tuesday, October 13 against Paynesville. That match will be live-streamed for the public to see.
*Note: the B-B-E Jaguars football team opens their six-game 2020 season on Friday, October 9 at Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. I am unaware if this will be live-streamed, but I have a hunch it will be. I do not know about the fan limitation rules at this point. **Update on Friday: visitor teams may bring 100 fans with, and home fans can total 150 at football games.
