There's a lot to get caught up on this week.

The weather featured sweltering, muggy heat on Friday at the fair. It was pretty gross all day and into the evening.

And back to Belgrade's August Fest...

I heard that the Belgrade VFW had a "pretty good" weekend overall at August Fest. I'll speak a little on their behalf and say "Thank You" to all those who came out and supported the VFW through the chicken feed, Friday's street dance and Saturday's Belgrade Brawl.

Incredible day for Day III of the Belgrade August Fest (VIDEOS)

With absolutely incredible weather with full sunshine, very little wind and temperatures in the low 70s today, the Belgrade August Fest is on Day III with a marvelous set of activities underway on Saturday. The Walk-Run was held at the high school and sponsored by the B-B-E Music Boosters. Other activities took place on main street and the nearby area. The August Fest kids pedal pull drew a terrific level of interest. The Car and Truck show had a nice collection on display on the north end of main street.

B-B-E track and field head coach Trish Thieschafer (B-B-E Class of 1996) was in the trio of adults shown in that video. The Walk/Run event was set up on the west side of the high school.

Tonight is a BIG TIME street dance in Belgrade featuring the Mason Dixon Band playing from 8 p.m. to around midnight. Additional coverage is posted to the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper website: https://shorturl.at/eW1lY.

Remember the community worship and meal on Sunday! That starts at 11 a.m. with worship and a pulled pork sandwich meal to follow at noon. Everyone is invited!

Sunday update...Farming and Richmond are playing for state tournament seeding at Watkins today. First pitch was at 11 a.m. The Royals beat Pearl Lake 6-5 yesterday, while the Flames beat St. Martin 5-4 earlier in the afternoon. Crazy! Back-to-back one run games in the region tournament.

Belgrade's August Fest is a go (VIDEO)

The Belgrade August Fest has been heavily publicized in the past three issues of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper (July 25, August 1, August 8)...and it all begins tonight!

The luncheon was at Grace Lutheran church on the afternoon of August 13, 2022.

Soon I will be heading to Willmar to the Kandiyohi County Fair for the afternoon. Tonight is the big Belgrade Firemen's Chicken BBQ supper! Please come out and show your support! (4:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the V.F.W.)

A terrific night in Belgrade! (VIDEO)

What a turnout tonight in Belgrade!

The band Custom Made performed while the Belgrade Co-op and Queen Bees of Paynesville served a wonderful pulled pork sandwich meal at the city park shelter. The playground and shelter and outdoor seating area was filled with people. Goat Ridge Brewing of New London was also on hand serving craft beer. The 2022 Belgrade August Fest celebration is officially underway!

I had a great time this afternoon at the Kandiyohi County Fair in Willmar, but now it's time to get ready for a trip back to Belgrade. I hope to see many of you there! My time with county fairs has come to a conclusion after nine trips to county fairs in the last three weeks. Now I can focus on just Belgrade as well as Norway Lake this weekend.

August Fest, region baseball

Busy, busy weekend! Tonight we have the Belgrade Fire Department BBQ chicken supper/dinner, an ice cream social sponsored by North American State Bank and North American Insurance Agency - and then at 8 p.m. is the start of Elrosa's region contest against Richmond in a winner's bracket final contest in Region 15C.

All of it was outlined in this week's Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. Region baseball updates will follow on this post later tonight.

*Final score: Elrosa 8, Richmond 0! The Saints play again at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday against TBD in Farming. At stake in that game will be the No. 1 seed from Region 15C to the state tournament.

August Fest kicks off

The Toilet Bowl races, sponsored by the B-B-E Area Jaycees, were a huge hit on Friday.

The Belgrade August Fest kicked off on Friday night and had a terrific turnout at the Belgrade Firemen's chicken dinner. And Elrosa Saints fans! Elrosa and Richmond will tangle for a state tournament berth at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday in New Munich.

Today I will be attending the funeral for Wanda Holtberg-Gjerde. I grew up with her, and we were good friends throughout high school. She was truly one of a kind. She had a heart of gold. Why does God always seem to take the good ones from us?
