Comedy show coming to Sedan this weekend!

Note: this show includes adult language and subject matter.

I'm excited to announce that Heidi's Bar in Sedan is hosting a comedy show out of Fargo. The group is called "The Forty Below Comedy Show" who will be in Sedan this Saturday, January 14 with their show from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. I'm happy to help promote this for their bar. The community of Sedan has been a very loyal supporter of this newspaper. They have free admission, so hopefully some of you can get out there and take it in!

More to come. I have been so ridiculously behind on just about everything...now almost one week later I am FINALLY getting video from the January 3 school board meeting posted online. I'll get that link posted here tonight.

AND! Thanks to the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper, here's the link to watch the majority of last week's school board meeting: https://bit.ly/3Xk22w4.

And more change of pace from sports...here's a video I recorded very early on the morning of Wednesday, January 4 last week:

And may we have a very NORMAL week this week!!! Fingers crossed. On Tuesday this week, the girls' basketball team travels to Minnewaska Area, and the boys' basketball team heads southeast to Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (high school on the south side of Grove City).

Area girls' basketball scores on January 9 (Monday):
Holdingford 49, Foley 37 (at Foley)
Royalton 63, Mora 23
A-C-GC 46, Upsala 38

Wasted Time at the Sedan Daze street dance (VIDEO)

What a treat that was!

The Terrace/Sedan-area band Wasted Time performed a near-four hour live concert in downtown Sedan last night. It was magnificent!

Here's Wasted Time performing the song Kryptonite in the final hour of the street dance:

More to come much later tonight. I have to get out to the old log church in the Norway Lake community ASAP! The Norway Lake Lutheran Historical Association summer program is today, and that has been heavily publicized in recent issues of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. This afternoon/evening is the Big Grove/Crow River/Grace Lutheran ice cream social and outdoor worship event at Games Lake park! Much to do. I'm sure I'll see some of you there.

State opener win! and Sedan Daze (VIDEO)

The Elrosa Saints amateur baseball team won 3-1 in their state tournament opener! They led 1-0 early againtst Montgomery on their way to advancing to the Round of 32 in the Class C state tournament. The Mallards and Saints had one error each, and the Mallards out-hit the Saints by a 7-to-6 margin. Elrosa's Ashton Dingmann had the game's only extra-base hit, as Dingmann hit a two-out double in the top of the second inning. Payton VanBeck pitched all nine innings with one earned run, two walks and six strikeouts. Two Montgomery pitchers combined to strike out 10 Elrosa batters, and starter Johnny Krocak gave up two earned runs in seven innings to take the loss. Elrosa's defense worked to strand 11 Montgomery base runners, while Elrosa had six stranded in the game.

I haven't confirmed all the information for the next round, but I know the Saints will play on Saturday, August 27 at 11 a.m. More informatio to come. I have to get back to Sedan for about the fifth time today! They are having an amazing Sedan Daze celebration!

**Confirmed: the Saints play in Dundas at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 27 against the Region 2C champion New Ulm Brewers. Spread the word!

Here's a video from the Sedan Daze tug-of-war competition that was held in the hay field due east of Heidi's Bar this evening:

If you were unable to attend Sedan Daze, that is very, very unfortunate!! They pulled off an incredible day. It was amazing from start to finish.

Santa Claus coming to Sedan

Here's a community announcement to get out before we head into the Thanksgiving weekend.

The Glacial Ridge ABATE chapter is holding Santa Day at Heidi’s Bar in downtown Sedan on Saturday, December 4 from 2 to 5 p.m., when kids can come out and meet Santa Claus and have their picture taken with him. All are welcome!

This blog's gonna go dark for most of Tuesday. We are putting together an especially special 14-page issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper in an attempt to provide ample coverage of last weekend's musical. It hits newsstands tomorrow afternoon.

A peaceful setting for a fundraiser

The evening of Friday, July 3 was a little muggy but still a wonderful night for a fundraiser in the quiet little town of Sedan.

Video:

The Sedan Fire Relief Association hosted a meat and gun raffle with a hamburger stand that night at Rooney's Bar. Photos from the event were published in the July 9 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper. A total of 500 raffle tickets were sold in two separate raffles.

The B-B-E community is blessed with many wonderful groups such as the Sedan Fire Department who provide activities for our area while also coming to help us in times of need.
