Here's photos from Act I of the second showing of 'OZ!' the musical at the Terrace Mill Children's Theater. This took place last night in Terrace in front another huge crowd that swelled to close to 350 people. (short link) https://bit.ly/2JF3VQY.

It was another outstanding show! If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to make tonight's show! 6:30 p.m. in scenic Terrace, Minnesota.

**Added late Friday afternoon: here's a few video clips from Act I last night in Terrace:

In other news...
The newspaper office has had quite a few phone calls and e-mails from people asking about the Belgrade August Fest. We've been promoting the dates for many weeks/months now in the Voice, but we still haven't received a schedule of events. We're asking numerous contacts in Belgrade to find out when the posters will be up and distributed. The town celebration starts in less than three weeks...August 7, 9 and 10.

Gig Noonan will highlight the Concert in the Park on Wednesday, August 7 at 6:30 p.m.

On Friday, the Belgrade Fire Department chicken dinner is from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

We also know that the grand parade is at 4 p.m. on Saturday. Also, Mixed Brew is the entertainment for the Saturday night street dance outside the Brothers Bar.

Terrace Mill children's theater

A crowd of at least 300 was on hand for the first showing of 'OZ!' at the Terrace Mill children's theater stage tonight.

It was amazing! A cast and crew of around 50 youth pulled off a truly impressive performance in the scenic Terrace Mill amphitheater.

The final two shows are at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday this week.

More to follow, including a link to watch video from tonight's show.

**Update: here's a web article link to share from the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper website...the show was great!! You don't want to cheat yourself or your family by missing this: https://bit.ly/2SnCOfY.

*Here's a link to the Bonanza Valley Voice photo gallery with a few of the photos taken tonight in Terrace: https://bit.ly/2LraDMr.

On the topic of Fine Arts, I read in the Echo Press newspaper that Brandon-Evansville school district is exploring a building referendum for the voters in November 2019. I didn't read a total figure for their options, but the story mentioned one number that jumped off of the computer screen: $7.6 million. That figure of $7.6 million represents their school building a new, 450-seat auditorium.

Their school district is still in the "survey" mode and hasn't come up with a clear path forward. They are getting very late in the process with where they're at. The MN Department of Education has to see their building plan by August in order for B-E to receive approval from the state.

At B-B-E, the building referendum topic has taken crystal-clear form. At Monday's (July 15) school board meeting, the building packages were formally approved. These packages will be forwarded to MDE for approval. The first ballot question has building renovations and improvements totaling $16.96 million. The second ballot question has additional improvements totaling about $2.98 million.

I'm working on a story that outlines the full building project and the costs involved.

For my family's home, the positive passage of the levy referendum and both building bond questions would raise our property taxes by $224 a year or $18.66 a month. A bargain in my opinion to help us maintain what I feel is about one-third of the value of our homes/businesses...that is what a great school district is worth.

(HD video) Snow White moved indoors

Here's some video, a short clip, from 'The Rockin' Tale of Snow White' as it was moved indoors to the Terrace Mill Sportsmen's Club last night. The Terrace Mill Children's Theater performed the second night indoors due to the frequent scattered rainfalls that covered west central Minnesota on Thursday. You can read more at the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper's website (link below).

In other news...the B-B-E Jaguars fastpitch 17-U team's playoff game at Osakis was postponed due to rain. I haven't heard what they plan on doing for the West Central League playoffs.

Fastpitch playoffs, musical

The B-B-E Jaguars 17-U fastpitch team lost 7-4 in a hard-fought contest at Osakis against Browerville in the West Central League playoffs on Thursday night. I have photos and video to post on Friday from the game. B-B-E was the No. 6 seed, while the Tigers were seeded No. 3.

From Osakis we made a quick trip down to Terrace to take in the musical. It was terrific! We then traveled north to Glenwood and spent time at the Pope County Fair as the sun was setting.

I have more to post at the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper website on Friday.

Never got around to posting this, but it's definitely worth sharing..the B-B-E Jaguars 14-U fastpitch team took second place in the West Central League, West division playoffs on Tuesday night. They made it to the finals, where they lost 2-1 to Alexandria.

More scenes from Terrace last Wednesday

Carma Hauge as "Mrs. Spratt", who during the show was considered a suspect in the murder of "Humpty Dumpty"
Riley Schumann as "Jack Be Nimble"

Once again the mighty talents of Julie Lloyd and Lucy Lloyd were on display as they directed "Law and Order: C-rhyme and PUNishment" at the Terrace Mill Children's Theater last week on Wednesday and Thursday nights. The show included theater talent from not only B-B-E but also a number of area schools as well as communities close in the Twin Cities area.

Here's the Sauk Centre Herald photo gallery link:

The show continued the tradition of truly excellent, family-friendly entertainment that is typical of what you can see in Terrace during the summer months. This area is truly blessed to have such a fine outdoor theater venue to enjoy!

Quite a show tonight!

The kids and their directors did a fabulous job tonight in Terrace during the production of "Law and Order: C-rhyme and Punishment". A handful of B-B-E theater students were part of the cast and crew.

Photos and video will follow. The second show is tomorrow night at 6:30pm at the Terrace Mill Theater.

The final scene is shown of tonight's production in Terrace.

How wonderful it is to have such a rich tradition of theater in central Minnesota, including right in our own backyard at B-B-E.

*Also, a third showing is at 2:30pm this Saturday in Glenwood at the city park bandshell (by Lakeside Ballroom) during the annual Waterama celebration.
