Terrific day for Clay Trapshooting meet (VIDEO)

On the only day of actual "summer" this week, the B-B-E Clay Trapshooting team competed at the state meet in Alexandria.

Here's a glimpse of the range at Station 8A this morning:

Senior Mason Eckstein finished an outstanding Clay Trap career at B-B-E by shooting a 98 today.

Clay trapshooting team at state (VIDEO)...and Saints win

The B-B-E Clay Trapshooting team competed at the Class 5A state championships yesterday in Alexandria. I haven't been able to catch up to all of the results, but that will follow in next week's newspaper. Earning Top Gun awards this season were Kara Wold (girls) and Mason Eckstein (boys), and Coach Gary Rodgers presented plaques to those student shooters during the meet.

Here's a video from the first shooting session yesterday:

The sound of the shot guns firing off at the clays is a wonderful sound. What you are hearing is the sound of kids who have learned the value and importance of gun safety as well as the recreation we find in owning and using guns. God Bless that!

B-B-E's team had 40 student shooters this spring. Out of that group, 25 competed at state yesterday.

Today we head out to the annual Curd Fest celebration at Redhead Creamery...celebrating June Dairy Month and our area dairy farmers! You can read up on that by clicking here: https://tinyurl.com/2f74ucx5. NOTE: this event goes until 6 p.m. today and is well worth attending!

In amateur baseball news...
The Elrosa Saints defeated Benson 3-0 last night to kick off the Elite 8 tournament in Elrosa. Will VanBeck pitched the win and gave up seven hits with no walks and five strikeouts. The Saints play tonight in the winner's bracket at approximately 8 p.m.

In the late game last night in Elrosa, New London-Spicer shut out Urbank by a 9-0 score. The Twins play tonight in Elrosa in the winner's bracket at 6 p.m.

Exciting news

For once, some exciting news! The first exciting news I can report since the B-B-E Jaguars girls' basketball team punched their ticket to the state tournament....and that was way back on March 6!

I just spoke with Coach Rodgers and...AND!! And!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The details haven't been revealed yet, as there are probably a few last-minute logistics to figure out. The B-B-E Clay Trapshooting team will start their 2020 season in June. What I heard is that a traditional five-week season will take place.

This is terrific. Thank God!

Lead

Lead would have quickly solved this criminal's problem...click to see what I'm talking about (short link): https://bit.ly/2WF2uFf.

Notice that being hit by a taser did not affect him. THAT IS WHY POLICE OFFICERS CARRY GUNS that are loaded with bullets that contain lead!

And that's why we have a Second Amendment, in spite of the best attempts by liberals to pound away at it and chew away at our rights as Americans.

Repeat after me: "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED."

AMEN.

  • Speaking of guns, the B-B-E Clay Trap team is competing in the Class 6A state tournament today in Alexandria. A total of 42 B-B-E trapshooting students will be shooting starting at 11:30 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

It looks like the wind may be a small factor (16 mph. wind in the forecast), but thank goodness the rain is now pushed back to after 2 p.m.!! Last night it appeared that scattered thunderstorms would take place throughout the morning and afternoon in Alexandria.

The month of June is jam-packed with activities. Today, don't miss the second annual Curd Fest at Redhead Creamery of rural Brooten. It has been heavily advertised in recent Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper issues. The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and promises to provide an exciting and educational afternoon for your family to take in! They are terrific at helping educate the public about dairy farming and agriculture.

One upcoming event that hasn't been in the Voice (yet) is the 13th annual Gary Breitbach Memorial golf tournament. This is coming up on Saturday, June 29 at Prairie View golf course. You can read up on the details at the Voice website (short link): https://bit.ly/2XfQM8z.

Clay Trap state

Video from state today in Alexandria:

The B-B-E Clay Trap team competed at the Class 4A state tournament today in Alexandria. Once the third group (of five) shooters from B-B-E took the field, a light rain started. I since learned that they had about a one-hour rain delay but have resumed action.

I heard a few scores in the 40s...and the scores represent successful shots out of a total of 50 clays in the opening round. Anything over 40 is incredible in my book!

With the first round in the books, here are a few of B-B-E’s leaders with their scores in either the JV or varsity divisions (out of a possible score of 50): Ben Feuerhake 40, Isaac Kampsen 40, Dawson Bitzan 38, Joe Feldman 38, Jake Fischer 42, Mathew Fuchs 38, Cody Lewis 37, Tristan Nelson 41, Payton Van Beck 38, Jared Weller 39, Peyton Winter 38, Austin Trustheim 43.

In the Novice division, Jaden Pastian was the leader for B-B-E in the first round with a score of 38 (out of 75 shots).
