(VIDEO) Powder Puff Homecoming football

Here's video from the final minutes of the first quarter today in the B-B-E Homecoming Powder Puff flag football game. This is an annual event with members of the junior and senior grades battling it out on the gridiron.

It was a remarkable game that included three quarters of action. The kids had a blast, and that's exactly what you want to see in this type of spirited rivalry amongst a group of peers who get along very, very well!

It sure doesn't hurt school spirit a single bit to win the Homecoming football game on Friday night!

Coming later tonight: a few random notes from the Prairie Conference girls' tennis tournament held yesterday. Plus web links to Sauk Centre Herald photo galleries from this past week after I took about half-a-gazillion photos since Tuesday morning.

Seniors take Powder Puff game!

QB Jamie Meyer for the juniors.
QB Sadie Tollefson for the seniors.

Final score tonight in the B-B-E Homecoming Powder Puff game: Seniors 28, Juniors 14. Video will be posted shortly after 9pm.

Scoring for the seniors were Sadie Tollefson (on a QB sneak), Taylor Gregory (on a pick return), Mackenzie Winter and Megan Weller. Gregory's pick return put the seniors ahead 14-7 near the end of the 2nd quarter, and Tollefson's one-yard sneak tied the game at 7-7 with 3:16 left in the first half.

The score was tied 14-14 in the closing minute of the 3rd quarter on a touchdown by junior Tori Wiener.

Weller had some key catches during the second half to keep the seniors in the game.

Peyton Miller got a 1st quarter touchdown catch from quarterback Jamie Meyer to put the juniors ahead 7-0 early in the 1st quarter.

Alright here's the (very rough-looking) video:

Homecoming continues on Thursday with Nerd Day and a home volleyball match.

Memories of fall at B-B-E

A group of B-B-E sixth graders congratulate fellow classmate Payton Van Beck for winning the halftime entertainment "Oscar Meyer wiener dancing" contest during the Homecoming game against Rockford.

Marshall Zachman (70) and Austin  Jaeger (15) collapse on a Kimball Cubs ball carrier during Week 2 of the varsity football season. The Jaguars had the game tied 28-28 in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter only to see the Cubs drive for a last-minute touchdown in a 34-28 loss.

More scenes from fall activities at B-B-E, as well as more photos from the Veterans Day programs, will be posted throughout this week.

Whew...after a three-day lay off...

Here's the link to the photo album from the Homecoming Pep Fest and pre-game activities last Friday:

With the end of "summer" weather this week (as of late last night), I spent as little time as possible in front of a computer. That changes today, with the onset of what I consider "fall" weather...and in fact, around Fargo/Moorhead today, they've got winter! (The ground is white up there.)

Tonight is an important home volleyball match against Maple Lake. The Irish (3-1) are right on the heels of the Jaguars in the Central Minnesota Conference standings. B-B-E and Pierz are tied for first place at 4-0 each.

Just for fun...here's a video clip from the jalapeno eating contest during the Homecoming Pep Fest last Friday:

More will follow later.

Scenes from Homecoming on Friday

Blindfolded musical chairs during the Pep Fest.

The senior boys (left) faced the varsity Jaguar volleyball team during the Pep Fest in a volleyball game. The varsity girls won 16-14 in a nailbiter.
Yes, small schools are the best! You don't see football players suited up and still managing to get in time with the Pep Band at larger schools.
Late in the fourth quarter, Coach Moscho discusses strategy with quarterback Brian Goodwin. The Jaguars executed to perfection in the fourth quarter, burning down the clock and not giving the Rockets much time for their final drive of the game after B-B-E made it 28-20 on a 32-yard TD run by Austin Kollman with 1:48 left.

More coverage of the B-B-E Homecoming is at: http://saukherald.com/main.asp?ArticleID=14490&SectionID=8&SubSectionID=402 and further coverage will be posted on Sunday. At that Sauk Centre Herald web article is a link to a partially-filled photo gallery with scenes from last night's game.
