In their opening-round match of the Willmar Cardinal Classic tournament, the B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team defeated Sauk Rapids-Rice 2-0. SR-R is 2-7 in the tough Central Lakes Conference and now 8-11 overall after that loss.

Six and a half yards per run was the mark earned by Rockford Area star senior running back, Nick Suardi, against #4-ranked Maple Lake last Friday night during the 35-28 win by the Irish on their home turf.

On the home tennis courts, the Jaguars defeated MACCRAY/RCW by a 5-2 score. At two doubles, the Jaguars lost the third set tiebreaker by a 11-9 score for one of the two point losses. They improve to 8-10 with their second win in a row. It's also huge for the Section 5A rankings, as playoffs begin in less than two weeks.

The Jaguars volleyball team has hit the road by now for a Central Minnesota Conference match at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted tonight. Back at home, the 9th grade football team hosts Melrose Area. The 5-6 grade Youth Tackle team is at Willmar.

The Jaguars girls' tennis team earned a 5-2 win on Saturday at the Litchfield Quadrangular. The victory was earned over the host Dragons, who are a fellow member of Section 5A.
