A tough road test

At MACCRAY tonight, the B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team won game one 25-21.

The Wolverines had a whopping 19 ace serves in their season opener last Thursday.

The Jaguars built a 12-5 lead in game two. Katherine Mastey had an ace serve for a 16-7 lead. After an Ally Gruber kill, the Jaguars had a 20-10 lead. MACCRAY called a timeout. Game three final score: B-B-E 25, MACCRAY 13.

In game three, the Wolverines flew out to a seven-point lead, but the Jaguars roared right back and finished with a sweep with a 25-22 win.

B-B-E is now 2-0 overall as they enter next week and prepare for another tough road match, this time at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted on Thursday, Sept. 6.

Success at Osakis

The B-B-E Jaguars volleyball team won 3-0 at Osakis tonight in the season opener. For the Silverstreaks, it was their second volleyball outing of the season. They participated in the Albany Invitational last Friday.

Osakis held a 19-15 lead in the first set, but the Jaguars rallied for a win. They won 25-16 in the next set, and then put the Silverstreaks away with a 25-14 win in game three. The varsity sweep capped a night where the C-squad and JV team also defeated the hosts.

Below, video from early in game three at Osakis:

Next for the Jaguars is a tough road match at MACCRAY in Clara City on Thursday this week. The Wolverines are looked at as one of the top teams in the Camden Conference. They will be tough as nails. MACCRAY, 24-7 last year and defending Camden North Conference champions, is 1-0 after winning by sweep over Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in their season opener last Thursday.

Look for action photos from tonight's match in this week's Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper...pages six and 10!

Remember! The Saints (16-8) open up the state tournament on Sunday, August 19 at noon in New Prague. Read more on that in the August 16 issue of the Bonanza Valley Voice newspaper.

We've been pretty quiet here on the blogging front. The news room is getting the B-B-E Hall of Fame series of stories in order. We've gotten one of seven out the door, and we didn't even properly get that one done (Orville Engel, Belgrade Class of 1948) and will publish Part II of his story in the August 23 issue.
